Brant Beach Sailing Foundation
The Brant Beach Sailing Foundation (BBSF) is a 501(c) (3) corporation established with the purpose to:
- Provide resources which support training and participation of our local sailors as they compete in regional, national and international competition
- Promote and support programs that expand participation of youth and adults in sailing. Assist in maintaining the natural habitat for sailing.
Who we are...
Founded in 2002, the purpose of this foundation is to promote sailing and support sailors of the greater Brant Beach Yacht Club community. We are a nonprofit 501C3 corporation established to provide a source of funding and financial assistance to encourage sailing, maintain the natural habitat for sailing, and provide resources which support training and participation of local sailors in regional, national and international sailing competitions.
What we do…
A primary goal of the Foundation is to furnish equipment and funding to promote our mission such as 420 sailboats for the Southern High School during the school year and BBYC sailors during the summer, support boats and boating trailers for travel to regattas, and through scholarships. Sailing education and program/regatta sponsorship are also key outreach aspects of the Foundation.
How we do it...
Sailboat Lease/Purchase Program
TheBrant Beach Sailing Foundation offers a lease/purchase program for junior sailors new to sailing interested in leasing an Opti with the option to purchase at the end of the season. This program allows beginner sailors easy entrance into junior sailing.
ReClam the Bay
The Foundation is supporting the shellfish restoration program in Barnegat Bay by helping fund the addition of an “upweller” nursery just off our docks. This process improves the clams survival rate into maturity and they are eventually introduced back into the bay to help filter the Barnegat Bay waters.
Junior Sailing Program Support
The junior racing incentive program has been reinstated with clothing rewards furnished by the Foundation.
