NOTICE OF RACE

      Note: BBYC has two Clubhouses, the larger Main Clubhouse, MCH to the North and the South Harbor Clubhouse, SHC, to the South.

 

1.     Organizing Authority: The Brant Beach Yacht Club and the International Sunfish Class Association along with the United States Sunfish Class Association (USSCA).

2.     Rules: The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) as modified by the Sailing Instructions

3.     Advertising: As allowed per ISAF regulation 20.

4.     Eligibility: Open to all members of the ISCA and one-design Sunfish Class boats as certified by the Class measurer.

4.1  Class membership is available at registration.

4.2  For Youth World Championship and Youth North American Championship:                                            

4.2.1    To compete as a Youth sailor, an individual shall not have attained his or her 19th birthday before the end of 2013.

4.2.2    To compete as a Junior sailor, an individual shall not have attained his or her 15th birthday before the end of 2013

5.     Entry: Online registration must be completed on or before July 12, 2013. Entry can be paid at regetta check-in or you can pay online during online registration using PayPal for payment. Online registration is available at https://www.bbycnj.com/Sailing/registration/entry.php?rgtID=4 for the Youth World and Youth North American Championships and https://www.bbycnj.com/Sailing/registration/entry.php?rgtID=5 for the North American Open Championship. 6.     Fees:

6.1  Regatta fee for competitors attending the Youth World Championship and the Youth North American Championship is:

6.1.1    $100 for Youth Worlds and Youth NA's and $75 for just the Youth NA championship. A late fee of $25 US will be added after July 1, 2013. Online registration is available at https://www.bbycnj.com/Sailing/registration/entry.php?rgtID=4.

6.1.1.1         Included are daily breakfast, make you own lunches, water and bars on the water, pizza Monday, dinner and awards Tuesday, dinner and awards Wednesday and a tee shirt.

6.2  Regatta fee for all age groups attending the North American Open Championship is:

6.2.1    $175 for the North American Open Championship or $155 if you previously registered for either Youth Championshp. A late fee of $25 US will be added after July 1, 2013. Online registration is available at https://www.bbycnj.com/Sailing/registration/entry.php?rgtID=5.

6.2.2    Included are full breakfast’s make you own lunches, water and bars on the water, dinner Friday, barbeque and awards Saturday.

6.3  Meal Plans are available for those traveling with competitors and include all meals the provided for the competitors. Youth World Meal plans are $50, Youth North Americans $40 and North American Open $45. These must be paid at check in.

8.     Registration: Eligible competitors may enter by completing the registration form and paying the required fees stated in Section 5 of this NOR. 

9.     Venue: Brant Beach Yacht Club, 6106 Bayview Ave., Brant Beach, NJ 08008 

10.   Measurement: The Chief Measurer and/or representative will measure boats only during scheduled hours. 

11. Sailing Instructions: Sailing instructions will be available at check-in. 

12. Races/Courses:  

12.1       Eleven (11) races are scheduled for the Youth World Championship

12.2       Seven (7) races are scheduled for the Youth North American Championship 

12.3       Eleven (11) races are scheduled for the North American Open Championship 

12.4       Courses will be windward-leeward, triangle, or a combination thereof, as defined in the sailing instructions 

13. Scoring:

13.1       The low-point scoring system of the RRS Appendix A will apply. When fewer than 5 races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. When 6 or more races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

13.2       One (1) race shall constitute a series. 

14. Support Boats:

14.1       The organizing authority shall approve the use of any support/coach boats which must register.

14.2       All support boats shall monitor the designated VHF race channel’

15.4       Perpetual Awards

15.5       Other awards at the discretion of the organizing authority, which may be awarded for criteria other than the completion.

16.      Liability: Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for any damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. See Rule 4, Decision to Race”. All competitors must sign a waiver.
